Remove Games From The Bill

Subject: Screen Industry Workers Bill - Request Changes

Body:

Hon Andrew Little,

As a member of the New Zealand video game industry, I wish to request my industry be removed from the Screen Industry Workers Bill.  After reviewing the proposed revisions from the Education and Workforce Select Committee, I do not feel that the revisions or the original bill properly protect workers in my industry.  I therefore would ask that you propose the following changes when the bill goes before the Committee of the Whole House:

1. Removal of “game development” from Part 1, Section 4 (10).
2. Removal of clause (a) including “computer-generated games” from Schedule 2, Section 1 (1).
3. Removal of the “computer-generated games” definition from Schedule 2, Section 3.
4. Removal of the “Game developer” occupational group from Schedule 3.
5. Removal of any other references to the video game industry and game developers.

I appreciate your time and consideration on this matter.
